It is compulsory for big energy users to assess and disclose their power consumption and outline an energy saving strategy under the Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS).

ESOS is completed once every four years and examines energy use to identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency. Annually completing the Government's Streamlined Energy Carbon Reporting (SECR) which looks at a company's emissions and the actions needed to cut energy use and emissions can make the process to complete ESOS easier and more accurate.
