So, it’s that ESOS time again! 2019 brings the second phase of compliance for large businesses and as one of FEC Energy’s lead assessors, I have a growing client list for whom we will enable compliance requirements to be met.
Unsurprisingly given our business sector, I will be working for several large agricultural businesses, however, we also have some non-agricultural clients and with my background in commercial energy efficiency, we may be well placed to service your requirements too.
The key dates for ESOS compliance are:
- 05 December 2019 – final compliance deadline. This time around there will be no leniency on late submissions, and the financial penalties for non-compliance are best avoided; so the earlier you make a start, the better
- 31 December 2018 – reported energy consumption for a consecutive 12 month period must include that used on this date
The compliance process requires that audits are carried out on 90% of your organisation’s energy consumption (including transport fuels). This will be a significant time requirement for any large organisation so the sooner the process starts the better. (For more about the requirements please see this blog)
